Soy sauce seared tuna or salmon

If you haven't picked up on it yet, our family loves seafood! We normally eat some type of seafood about 4 times a week (everything from shrimp, scallops, salmon, tuna, lobster, etc). This particularly recipe works great with either a fresh tuna steak or a nice salmon fillet. The instructions are the same, regardless of which fish you choose to use. My husband and I love to put this on top of a fresh salad, where as the kids prefer to eat this with rice and broccoli. While this recipe tastes delicious and is extremely quick and easy to prepare, the soy sauce does make it high in sodium so we do limit how frequently make it.

Ingredients:

1 lbs salmon fillet (or 2 fresh tuna steaks)

1/3 cup of soy sauce (we use low sodium soy sauce)

Directions:

Wash and remove the skin and cut the salmon (or tuna) into roughly 1inch square pieces. Put the fish into a medium mixing bowl and pour the soy sauce on top. Stir the bowl every 5 minutes to let the fish fully soak up the soy sauce. Ideally try to marinate for at least 15 minutes for the best flavor, but if you don't have time you can cut down on the marinating time. (While the fish is marinating I'll usually make a salad or get the rice and broccoli cooked).

Once you are ready to cook the fish, heat a large skillet on the stove on high for about 5 minutes to get it extremely hot before starting. Once the skillet is hot pour the fish and soy sauce combo into the skillet and saute on high for 3-4 minutes stirring constantly to make sure everything is evenly cooked. Be careful to not overcook the fish so it doesn't get dried out. Serve and enjoy immediately over rice or salad as preferred.
