Smoothies...a great meal on the run or a healthy snack

For those mornings that you are rushing to get out the door and need a breakfast that is easy, healthy, and portable consider a smoothie. Smoothies are a great way to start your morning packed with nutrition (and sneak some veggies in for the picky eaters), plus the flavor possibilities are endless so you never get bored. Here are a few of our favorite go to smoothie recipes, but feel free to experiment with different fruits and veggies to see what your kids love-you might be surprise!

Throw ingredients into blender, mix until desired consistency (If too thick add extra water, milk, almond milk, etc. If too thin add extra ice or more frozen fruit).

1) Good morning sunrise smoothie:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup baby carrots

1/2 cup orange juice

1 cup frozen pineapple chunks

3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt

1/2 cup frozen mango chunks

2) Silly Monkey smoothie:

1 frozen banana

2 cups frozen strawberries

3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt

1 cup low-fat chocolate milk

Feel free to add 2-3 tbsp of peanut butter or almond butter if no allergies for a little extra protein

3) Green smoothie:

2 cups baby spinach (about two handfuls)

2 cups frozen mixed berries (we love strawberries, raspberries, blackberries)

1 cup plain Greek yogurt

1 cup low-fat milk (soy, almond or coconut milk will work too)
